I am not the campaign, I am the movement!

I finally watched Milk. What an incredible movie, especially with the incredible Sean Penn and amazing director Gus Van Sant. You’ve got to watch it to believe it. Another thing about the movie was how it reminded me of San Francisco and how much I miss it. There’s just something about that city. Maybe it comes from all the movements and fight for rights, all that passion, blood, sweat and hope. Picture taken one cold rainy morning, not a bad one especially since Nimonster was rushing me to cross the road, lucky I got my snapshot!

Random around Los Angeles

Los Angeles is all about palm trees, just like in TV and movies, it really is.

Las Vegas

I came to find that Vegas is all about lights. Just like in the movies and tv shows we’re so familiar with, flashing lights never dies in Vegas, outside as well as inside of buildings. Everywhere you go, there’s a pokies machine or blackjack table waiting for you, tempting you to tempt fate, giving you that ounce of hope you might win big today, pushing you to take that risk you probably never would anywhere else. So this is Vegas, drinking, buffet lines, gambling, you’re even allowed to smoke inside. Out on the cold streets at night, there are groups of people dressed in advertisement gear, promoting strip clubs and prostitution. Tis is the epitome of Sin City.

This is my favourite picture of the bunch, and it is of the hotel we stayed at. I had a lot of blurry pictures, since I was using your regular point and shoot camera, taking night shots without flash requires super steady hands but it was freaking 0 degrees or less that night so it was quite impossible for my hands to stay still and I even had gloves on!

Mochi wanted to play pokies, but it was underage. :(

So I played on its behalf. Woohoo! And I think I won about $9 in like 2 minutes.

Partying in Vegas was fun. Nimonster have a close friend, AJ, who lives in Vegas, who also drives a bad ass car, who was kind enough to bring us around and even bring us out clubbing on Friday night.

On the way to the carpark from the club, we passed by the casino (you can’t walk anywhere without passing by pokies machine here in Vegas) and saw balloons of the dollar sign and I wanted to take one home. A lady who works there walked past so Nimonster asked if we could nick one and she was so nice she said “I didn’t see anything”. Ho ho so tadah I brought that back to the hotel. It deflated after 2 days, kind of like the current economy now. How ironic.

And finally, I end this long picturesque post with…

Dollar BEER AND HOTDOG. Only in Vegas babeh!

Melbourne – Auckland – Los Angeles

Oh my god. I have been MIA. I know. Friends thought I have been kidnapped by the Nimonster or some other kind of monster here in the big US of A.

Fact is, I’ve been… adjusting to this big different city. Been sick as the body gets used to a different continent’s weather and environment, been job hunting (let me take this opportunity to say how much I hate job hunting, thus i miss Pearsons so much!!!), been going to and fro US govt offices ie Social Security while incompetent workers give me wrong information gaaahh I am still pissed about that but anyways… here are some pictures of my departure from Melbourne and transit at Auckland. By the time I arrived at LA, I was too jaded to take any pictures, and hauling two 20kg bags by yourself from a pretty fast-moving carousel is damaging both emotionally and physically.

I took Air New Zealand, the only airline that allowed me a 18th month open ticket. Surprisingly the service was not too bad, the food was good, seats a bit narrow but I chose an ailse seat so I had ’space’ the stretch me legs. Most of the flight attendants were MALE. That was sure a surprise. Oh, and flying on Christmas day has its perks, like extra piece of chocolate caramel frog with your meal. heh

Let me introduce you to MOCHI. :) This was taken when I was transitting at Auckland airport and had time for a cup of coffee. Mochi is a farewell gift from eujin, it doesn’t have a gender so I’m calling it “it” from now. I have decided Mochi will accompany me through my trip. hehe. Mochi’s name is pretty self-explanatory, it is white and looks just like a Mochi only with eyes. (If you don’t know what a Mochi is go google it!)

Ok, back to job hunting and apartment hunting for me. :( I will try to update more as soon as I can. I have a few blurry Vegas pictures yet to post.

Take care folks and once again, I haven’t been abducted aite.

Spot the Dog

If you are reading this then somehow I have managed to survive a 18 hour (including transit time) flight and arrived safely at LAX and have been recuperating from jet lag on xmas day, rather than the planned ‘celebrating an extra Christmas day’.

Today is Boxing Day, as the Aussies call it, and in Australia it is a public holiday, or rather, a super shopping day as almost every shopping centre will have massive sales. However, in America, there is no such thing as Boxing Day. :( AND IT IS NOT A PUBLIC HOLIDAY. (by the way, there you go, your first USA fun fact! – no boxing day sales in the US, booooo!)

Anyways, I am currently on my way to Las Vegas therefore this calls for another form of entertainment for you guys while I’m away… and this time it’s…

SPOT THE DOG!

Did you find Brandy?

Merry Christmas! Ho Ho Ho~

If you are reading this then somehow I have managed to pack, travel to the airport and board my plane at 11.35AM Melbourne time, all in less than 24 hours.

>.<

So while I’m away ‘celebrating’ Christmas on a musty Air New Zealand plane with a stranger next to me while I try my best not to ‘invade’ his/her seat space, here’s something to keep you entertained…

Oh, I just realised I’ll be arriving in LAX on XMAS DAY 10.30AM. Wow, time warp eh. Oh wells, means I get to have TWO Christmases. How special. :-D

Happy Holidays everyone!!!
